What We Provide

Our goal is to help you achieve a healthy and quality life as a retiree/dependent. That is why we offer cost-effective alternative benefit plans, such as medical, dental, vision, and prescription. Of course, these are for your consideration. You are not required to get all these once you become a member. Aside from these plans, you will be able to enjoy other benefits once you join us, such as access to newsletters, learning events, and other resources (Travel Discounts).

Our 2022 Fundraising Drive Has Re-Opened!

GE Retiree Benefit Solutions wants to reach out and offer more services and benefits to the 60,000 GE retirees and dependents online. Right now, we rely solely on donations of our members, and we still need your donations to achieve our objectives. So far, we have NOT reached our minimum goal of $10,000. Help us reach our target amount by donating today!

21 Total Donations so far for 2022!

Our Goal is $10,000! (With a $4700 Carryover from 2021)

Some Facts and Statistics

  • We have 2,500 Facebook members. Of those people, 703 have registered and joined this formal website.

  • At the moment, just Starting our 2021 Fundraising Drive--we have about 129 contributions. This means that only 18.3% of our Formal Website Members have contributed so far! We Know we can do much more--Contribute Today!

  • Of the 2500 Members that we have on our Solutions Facebook Group, ONLY 703 have Registered here at our Formal Website. Please Register Today! Go here-- https// (scroll down a little on the page).

  • Our tentative financial budget for 2021 is $13,000, which covers our bare minimum expenses.

  • We are asking our other members to step up and make a contribution. A donation of at least $24.00 will help tremendously! That’s LESS that $0.46 a week (less that a cup of coffee!)

  • We are VERY GRATEFUL to our committed and dedicated members that have given their contributions—some repeatedly. But we know WE CAN DO BETTER.

  • We will use the collected funds to offer more services, reach out to a potential 60,750 (current) to 108,500 (future projection) retirees and dependents online, and achieve the priorities and goals we have set for 2021. Help us reach our objectives today! Our foundation can grow and become even more successful with your continued support.

Benefits of Membership

You will gain access to learning events, newsletters, emails, websites, posts, and more.

Benefits Advocacy

We help members experiencing benefits issues by partnering with GE Global Benefits and VIA Benefits.

Benefit Plans

GE Retiree Benefit Solutions will offer prescription, dental, vision, and medical plans for members.

We can serve as YOUR voice at the GE Annual Shareowners Meeting, which takes place in spring, and at the Fall Meeting of Retiree Reps and GE Global Benefits. Our organization can also represent you for GE Corporate HR matters.

Initiatives and Strategies

  • The “fight” is NOT over just because the lawsuits have been dismissed! We will continue to be your advocates for BETTER retiree healthcare! You EARNED that right!

  • To achieve our goals, we will start letter or email campaigns, begin petitions, hold surveys, analyze data, create a formal website with many communication functions and tools, and many other initiatives and strategies.

  • We will continue to push for an increased and fair Retirement Reimbursement Arrangement (RRA) amount, better customer service from VIA Benefits, and better healthcare provider choices. GE Retiree Benefit Solutions has also put other plans into place to help retirees and their dependents.

  • We will continue to grow our membership. Currently, we have 243,000 retirees (and survivors), and our projected future addition is at 184,000. This growth means increased revenues, allowing us to create more effective initiatives and strategies so your voices will be heard.

  • We will continue to advocate for and try to protect all your retiree benefits, whether it’s corporate retiree healthcare, corporate pension, SOCIAL SECURITY, or MEDICARE.

GE Retiree Benefit Solutions Disclaimer on Contributions/Donation and Dues

Please consult your tax representative if you want to try to deduct your donation/contribution or dues. To do so is your personal decision, NOT ours. Generally, we cannot deduct donations/contributions or dues for tax purposes. Taking deductions when filing personal taxes based on these donations becomes a “muddy” practice, whether it’s for 1040A, 1040EZ, 1040, or 1040.

Please refer to our IRS Tax Exempt Approval Letter (8/23/2018). This is from Jason Krotine, our IRS contact. The letter states twice that we cannot take a deduction: “Donors cannot deduct contributions they make under IRS Section 170 (C) (2). That to me…is the definitive statement.”

Other Information from IRS on Contributions/Donation and Dues

We have shared another statement from the IRS that says: “Clear as mud…so I’d say “generally”—no, they are not deductible. The last clause….that we “need to disclose that contributions are NOT deductible,” needs to be posted on our website, I believe.” Learn more by visiting this link.

Contributions to 501(c)(5) organizations are generally not deductible as charitable contribu¬tions for federal income tax purposes. They may be deductible as trade or business expenses if they are ordinary and necessary in the conduct of the taxpayer’s trade or business. See Nondeductible Lobbying and Political Expenditures for more information.

Unreimbursed employee expenses (nowhere does “organization member” appear), such as dues, may be deductible. See Publication 529, Miscellaneous Deductions for more information. An organization may also be required to disclose that contributions are not deductible when it solicits them.
